Also thankful for the fanclub membership that gives me free weekly music downloads, freebie goodies in the mail, and the opportunity for free tickets to next year's concert.

I know this is the standard--expected answer from Polk, but I'll add this.

I fell in love with TMBG when I was dating my wife. This music challenges me and rewarded me.  It saw me through the toughest times of my life, and helps inspire my creative endeavors to this day.  There wouldn't be any Polk's aliens, mothmen, What Polk is Drinking, Polk's Pies, Polktales, or any other thing I have "created" if I didn't have a wellspring of creativity to look at and admire.

Also Ozne and Stormy (and Patch and Arkay and Nebs and others) who encouraged me.

That reminds me of how grateful I still am for you hooking me up with that concert ticket earlier this year. During a time when I was in a hibernative, non-social mood, it gave me a reason to get out of the house and go on an out of town trip. I saw a great show, hung out with a friend who I know mostly through my brother, and had a great time. On the ride home, he invited me to his wedding and I was so flattered to know that I mean that much to him. It's all because you were so genrous man.

You're a great dude Polk. Stay Golden Polky Boy.

My answer is Florence and the Machine. I first discovered their music when the song Seven Devils was attached to the trailer for season 2 of Game of Thrones. I searched around and found out who did the song and listened to it on Youtube a couple of times.

This year, while trudging through new music on kick-ass-torrents, I saw they had a new album, and I downloaded that and the previous one. It's some of the best, most emotionally captivating music I've heard in years. My roommate recently brought to my attention that it's practically the only album I play aloud at home anymore (which was his nice way of saying it's getting on his nerves a bit). It's something that remains in constant rotation of "Music to dance to while I do my sign waiving job" when I'm not in the mood for reading and audio book or a podcast.

The song I first discovered them through, turns out to be one of their lesser songs, which is to say nearly every other song on Ceremonials and How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful are even better! Great stuff. Give it a listen.
