Our parking lot has employee parking facing the sides of the building and state vehicle parking facing away.  She freaks out when the maintenance guy mows because she doesn't want grass on her car, so she has to go out and move it to the state vehicle side, then gripes because it's not shaded by the trees.  She came in today to tell me I ought to move my car because they are watering the grass and we use well water, and it'll strip the paint off my car (the water is just hitting the grass, but the wind MIGHT blow it onto our cars).

I don't really have a point to this story, other than she annoys me.

Well if she would rather park under a tree, it might be nice of you to sprinkle some bird seed around her car. I'm the sure the birds would enjoy using her car as a toilet.

Oh, the birds are a huge problem for her.  We have, among other things, those black birds that have the purple poop.  It's everywhere.  She gets so mad that "they" don't do something to get rid of them.
I think the purple poop is because they eat the fruit from the mulberry trees. Mulberry are edible but kind of blah. Birds love that stuff though.

When I was younger I read a Louis L'Amour book. The Walking Drum. One of the lines from that has stuck with ever since. “A ship does not sail with yesterday's wind.” When I catch myself feeling like I'm owed something, I remember that.

Everybody loves bacon, right?  I mean it’s possibly the most popular breakfast food in the USA.  Bacon’s savory and salty.  It’s fatty and it goes well with lots of other foods.  Bacon goes with eggs. It goes with salad.  It goes with burgers.  There are almost daily reminders all over the Internets telling us to celebrate, if not outright worship this pork product.
    (Insert images of bacon memes)
On the other hand, I submit that bacon is, at best, being overhyped.  Do we really need bacon-topped milkshakes?  Who really wants bacon cupcakes?  I submit that all this amounts to a Bacon Conspiracy
    Anatomy of the Conspiracy
    1) Establish bacon as a premium, feel-good, happy time food that’s good with everything. (Even though it isn’t)
    2) Add low-quality, cheaply-produced bacon to fast food menu items.
    3) Increase price of said menu items to reflect the premium, feel-good, happy time reputation of Big Bacon
    4) Profit.
    The Genghis Grill Paradox
Tuesday is Genghis Grill Day.  That is my one day off each week (that isn’t a Sunday) and I usually make it to a local outlet of the Mongolian grill for a healthy-ish meal of chicken breast and veggie stir-fry.  It’s yum. (Yum, I say Arkay.)
Yesterday was no exception and I have recently been pleased to notice the addition of snow peas as an option in the build-a-bowl line.  New items are welcome.  Yesterday as I perused the meats I noticed something different--very fatty, tired-looking, uncooked bacon.  For a brief moment I considered adding a bit of bacon to bowl I was assembling because “who doesn’t love bacon?” The moment passed.  My inner (and outer) fat guy would not be coddled.  I was there for chicken breast and vegetables and there was no reason to sully relatively healthy meal with greasy fat bacon.
Yay for Polk!  Self control for the win!
Then the check came and my lunch was nearly two dollars more pricey than it had been before. Merely adding bacon as an option raised the price of my Tuesday treat even though I had no intention of taking the bacon option. Big Bacon gets it’s due.
Think about all the places that add bacon to menu items.  Those items are invariably more expensive.  Places like McDonalds use cheap bacon that has next to zero flavor yet still charge more for the privilege.  It’s a bacon Conspiracy and Polk has uncovered it.

It's always irritated me that fast food joints will charge you extra for adding stuff like bacon or cheese, but they won't reduce the price if you take away items like tomato or onions.

I hate it when restaurant makes the standard item with all that crap. They don't serve a chicken sandwich that you can add bacon and cheese to for extra-they serve it with all of that for a jacked up price, and you don't get $2.00 removed for not getting it. (I do eat bacon, Polk, I just don't like it mixed in with anything else)

Good news. The thing my boss wanted to be off for has been postponed for at least 2 more weeks, so I can be off on my birthday. I'm not doing anything, hanging out in pajamas probably. But it was the point-I was off first and you aren't more special because you have Administrator in your title.

I can't even win by default.

Turns out that the person who really drawer the best art really did respond to the notice that he'd won but Luke just lost the email in his spam folder.

I don't know why thatbothers me but it kinda does.

Something about being second place in a three man race.

    Morning everyone.

I guess I missed something because I have no idea that you are referring to. I ended up in your neck of the woods yesterday. I drove by the mines but didn't see your car or I would have dropped in and said hi. I did go to the range and fired off a couple boxes of ammo. I have a few more gun reviews to write about. One I love, one I like and one I'm not a huge fan of. Just need to find some time to do so. Work has had me jumping lately.

Someone suggested on the FB Haunt that we needed a new mascot; LYT said he'd do an art contest but there weren't many entrants in the last one and the winner never messaged him, so Polk might win. Apparently the winner saw the post and emailed LYT again, so Polk doesn't win.

Luke's contest for the Zelda shield. He picked a winner (not me) but didn't get a response on where to ship the thing. So he put on Facebook that he was going to probably select mine as runner up. Last night he asked for my address then later figured out that the real winner really did want the prize.
