I'm personally happy for him.
however...
His humor seems to have been blunted and he seems way more preoccupied with ideas of racial justice and gender issues than he used to be. It's a weird thing because I don't remember him having that much to say about things like that in his TR days. To me that's off-putting because I can get hit over the head with how terrible I am because I am a white male anywhere.
I'd like to see him write more in his snarky, sometimes vicious style of humor.
But I think he's captaining another sinking ship, so he's gotta do what he's gotta do.
By sinking ship I mean Gawker already folder io9 into Gizmodo. I'm sure the idea is to boil the io9 content down to generic levels so as not to be too different from what they do on Jizzmodo.
see now how I am bitter?
You seem bitter.
I'm totally happy for Rob, and Io9 is fun to look at, but I don't think it'll ever be like TR. Then again, I don't think any site will ever fill that void.
Yeah, I'm starting to feel like Roy Batty at the end of Blade Runner... "I've read things you people wouldn't believe. Brickhousebunny21 on fire! I watched Squid jizz glitter in the dark near the Hogwarts Gate. All those moments will be lost in time, like Tohts...melting...in pain. Time to die"

Spring allergy season has really kicked into high gear this week. Itchy eyes and sneezing has left me feeling ultra shitty lately.

Re: M'Aidez! M'Aidez!
This is how my project has come along so far.
Before
Demo
And the new cedar wall. I couldn't get Mexico to pay for my wall.
I need more cedar to finish the sides, then I'm adding a barn tin ceiling, new fans, and some trim paint and it will be done. I do like the smell of the cedar. Hopefully I gapped it enough to expand. It was crazy humid yesterday so maybe it swelled some before I hung it.

I've been busy with work and my home projects. With summer coming I have a lot of plans to get done around here. I want to have my back porch remodel done in the next week or two. I'm going to concerts the next 2 weekend, so I'll be busy trying to fit in finishing it. Then I'm going to start in on my dining room remodel. I'm doing these based on what supplies will cost. These are the two cheapest, since I can do the work myself. The kitchen remodel will be the biggest project and I'll have to get some outside help.
I want to tear out a wall between the kitchen and living room. Build another pantry, new counter tops, raised bar, sink, ceiling height cabinets, since I'm going to lose some on the other side. I can do a lot of it, probably could do most of it, but the time it would take would be a pain in the ass.

Heard the sound of rain outside while I was asleep last night/this morning. Checked the weather just now, and it looks like it'll be raining off an on today during my sign shift. Oh boy.
Also, new poll's up.

Schools almost out. I'm ready for summer to get here but it will be a busy one. I have one playing volleyball, one playing 7 on 7, another heading to Europe. Then various camps on top of that. I figure I'll have something going at least 4 or 5 days a week. Should wind down around end of July.

Re: M'Aidez! M'Aidez!
Today seems to be the beginning of "hay fever" season. My sign waiving shift was punctuated by a lot of sneezing and itchy eyes. I felt mildly crappy for most of the latter half of the shift, but not too bad. Now that I'm home, I feel tired, but restless. Yay.

Went over to a nightclub run by a friend of mine for a Bernie Sanders event, that included a costume contest. I won $40. I'd previously made arrangements to swap todays shift at work with a friend, so I could be out lat at the bar and not have to get up early for work. Thus, today's been spent almost entirely in bed, and I've only just gotten up. I feel like I should have some guilt for squandering such a lovely day, but honestly, it's felt nice recharging my battery. How are the rest of you enjoying your saturday?
What was the costume? Got a pic?
I dressed up as Bernie. I'll post a pic later tonight or tomorrow. For now, I'm tired from getting up early for doctors appointments, so I'm taking a siesta nap.
