I looked up flights June 3-5. Jack's flight is running $320 round trip. Gonzo $350. Flying out Friday and return Sunday. I have had a lot of luck getting cheap hotels around the airport on Priceline. If Timely wouldn't get jealous they could bunk together and we could handle the driving duties to get them around.

I'm older than you and I have crushes.  I don't know that there's anything to read between the lines of, if you outright said you had a crush on her.  If she's been friends with you for years, she knows all about you...this is the one you've been doing stuff with lately, right?  So you know she shares your interests and likes to hang out with you.

Come to Dallas.  You have right at about 5 months.

Well, I've been asking to spend a lot of time with her lately, and I told her she was my favorite. And before I left to go on the camping trip I told her I would like to see her when I got back..I don't know. I'm sure she doesn't see me like that so it never crossed her mind. Also,  I have a trip planned to go see my cousin and his girls in SC in May, so I don't know. Money is tight but I would like to come visit you guys. I need to rob a bank.

We did. You were high on pain meds and missed it

theIllustriousDrGonzo wrote:So yesterday under the influence of anesthesia and pain meds, I may or may not have confessed to my friend Simone that I have a crush on her...Can grown men have crushes?

Yes grown man can, as you clearly do.

theIllustriousDrGonzo wrote:Did she read between the lines of my comment?

Well the "may or may not have" part might mean there was nothing to read between.

theIllustriousDrGonzo wrote: Am I a piece of trash that no sane woman would date, especially one that I've been friends with for years?.....

Of course you are. That's why we like you. As far as dating you goes, the only way to know is to go for it. If y'all have friends for years, it won't effect your friendship. The rewards outweigh the risk. I love to gamble when that's the case.

The news is at CES showing off the cool stuff they found. The problem is they are doing it over Skype and the connection is crap so it looks like they are shooting through mud. Pretty funny for a tech segment.

Hey guys, I'm thinking I might join in the fun in Dallas. I'd meant to come out to Houston to visit family last year, but I couldn't afford it, so I might devote some of my tax refund to doing that, and see if my brother would be willing to help out as a graduation present or something.

Also, Arkay, I definitely agree that you coworker is painfully stupid. She sounds coaster stupid. Not just stupid, but stupid because she's been able to rely on other people to help her out for most of her life, and doesn't expect that to change anytime soon.

Polk, sorry to hear about your foot. I occasionally get a weird pop feeling in my foot, followed by a warm flush in a very small area. I keep thinking I should get it checked out.

Patch, sorry to hear about the ID theft stuff. That really sucks.

Also, I started my final math class at LCC today. Turns out there's a different text book... that is free online and only $20 in the campus book store. HOLY SHIT! Isn't it sad as fuck that that's impressive to me?

Good evening gang. Surgery was painless. I went in, got hooked up to an iv, and the next thing I know I am waking up two hours later. I have percocet, ibuprophen anitibiotics and some mouth wash to take. I've only taken one pain pill today and plan on taking ibuprohpen from here on out. the pain is moderate but comfortable, and i have to keep gauze packed in both sides of my jaws due to some bleeding. New Years was a blast. I needed to get away for a few days. That is about it. I hope you all had a great new years and 2016 is treating you well.

Here's the thing. As a fat guy, I tend to wear out the soles of shoes faster than most people do.  I also don't notice a problem with the shoes until my feet are no longer on stable platforms and I develop the achilles tendon thing.  Usually that's my clue to go buy a new pair of the exact same kind of Dockers loafers and within a couple of days, that's that.

This time, I was seduced by the promise of "memory foam" insoles that I convinced myself would be helpful.  So I bought a pair of Skechers loafers. "Relaxed fit".  I'm working under the theory that between the looser fit and the squishy insoles, I wasn't doing myself any good.

So I went back to the store and bought the Dockers shoes.  I wore them home and I can tell that my feet feel better in them.

I took off early today (since I am not taking a day off this week at all...) and now I am at home.  Having had a beer and a nap, I can only wait and see if the proper shoes do the trick.

I have tried the dr Sholls insert things.  They cost like sixty bucks on their own and I am not good at installing them.  I believe you have to remove the existing insoles of the shoes to install the things. I don't want to do that because if they shift around I am in the same position was in before.

Thanks everyone for your concern, If things don't improve I'll go on and call my doctor.

rkwsuperstar wrote:Please allow me to complain a little bit.  New Coworker has been here a year next month.  One of her jobs is paying our fuel bill.  She's been doing for about 9 months.  It's not difficult-you match up receipt with the entry on the bill, then determine which research project it belongs to and make a spreadsheet with the total for each project account number used for payment, then send the whole thing in to campus, where they deduct the funds from the accounts and request a check from the state.  The hardest part is getting the balance right, because it's easy to transpose a number in the spreadsheet or miss a decimal.  Anyway, she's working on December's bill and emails me asking if a specific employee has already terminated.  He has.  Now she's in a panic because she can't find his fuel receipts and now what do we do because he's gone!?.  However, this employee never had a fuel card.  His boss is located on the mother ship, but she has a few research plots here, and so he's officed here to work on those, but he uses a fuel card assigned to the mother ship, not us.  He brought all his receipts to me, so I could send them to his boss.  She has a list I've given her of all the fuel cards that are checked out and who is assigned which one.  She didn't check it, because she was CERTAIN this card belonged to this guy.  A guy who has never had one of our fuel cards and has never brought her a fuel receipt.
I know I complain about her often and you guys may think I'm over-reacting or something, but this is the kind of stuff I deal with all the time.  This isn't a learning curve.

No, she's just dumb as toast.

As for me, I have taken off early and I am sitting in No Frills grill drinking a beer to,try to numb the pain in my ankle. Will be buying new shoes in a few.

I agree with Patch, maybe you need to look into a brace to wear while working.  What about that Dr. Scholl's foot machine thing?  I've seen those commercials, where you get on and it tells you what's wrong with your feet and what type of shoe insert you need to help.

My brother had foot problems and tried the Dr.Scholls machine. He claims it's the best thing he's ever done for his feet. I'd give it a shot if you've got one near you.
Get better. Don't suffer through the agony of da feet.
